<ResourceDictionary Source="/Catel.Windows;component/themes/generic.xaml" />

using Catel 3.1 from Setup , isn't this supposed to be included when creating new Project using Catel Project template?

or do i have to build my own first?

Interesting, it looks like you are using old templates. Please use the latest here:

http://catel.codeplex.com/downloads/get/375961

The Catel.Windows no longer exists since version 3.0. You should now use /Catel.Extensions.Controls;component/themes/generic.xaml

Many thanks for the prompt reply. Issue has been solved.

here's what i did :

1. Replaced all the Catel.* WPF/Silverlight templates installed in %VSInstallDir%\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\Catel

with the one from the download link you provided.

2. Created new project and resolved assembly references using NuGet.

3. Templates compiled fine, no errors.

so perhaps the templates that came along with Catel 3.1 Setup installer weren't updated.

I double checked, they will be correctly used in the upcoming 3.2 release.
